The city of Kaiserslautern is celebrating its 750th anniversary this year and is marking the occasion with a year-long programme of events, which will also kick off this year’s Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Summer.
To mark the occasion, on Saturday 2 May 2026, a host of artists will transform the stretch from Schillerplatz to the Pfalzgalerie into a cultural hub for the whole day, inviting visitors to stroll, join in and enjoy the festivities.
Stegreif will be there with a colourful programme. An open music and improvisation workshop begins at 10 a.m. Together with our project partner, the intercultural ZUSAMMENSPIEL Ensemble of the Kulturkarawane Trier, we invite people from Kaiserslautern and the surrounding area to rediscover music together. The event will conclude with a joint flash mob concert (1 p.m.) by all participants along the Kultursommer mile, sending a powerful public message of diversity, participation and musical freedom right in the heart of the city. In the afternoon (5 p.m.), there will also be a musical performance by Stegreif and ZUSAMMENSPIEL musicians at the official opening ceremony in the Fruchthalle.
The number of participants for the workshop is limited to 30 people. Registration is required.
