Gemeinsames Konzert von Stegreif und WandelWerk

Music education and community work are fundamental components of our musical work. In our major series, we always combine educational work with the development of our own artistic programme. This exchange not only motivates and enriches the workshop participants, but also, and in particular, us as an ensemble. Music education projects often arise in collaboration with external partners who wish to link an existing group of people with a Stegreif project – it is rare for these to be groups that are only just being formed. However, the project with the Gewandhaus is different: together with the Stegreif Orchestra, a new group called “WandelWerk” is being established within the Community Music programme. We are looking for 20–30 people to work with Stegreif in three workshops (6 September, 6–8 November, 19–21 February) and to develop the concert programme “bfree” – Stegreif’s recomposition of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony – together. In addition to the workshops with Stegreif, the group will meet once a week from 8 September, on Tuesdays from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm.

To mark the festive conclusion of the project, a joint concert entitled “bfree – Ode to Freedom” is scheduled for 11 May 2027 at 7.30 pm in the Great Hall of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
